Volunteers who have been distributing soup to the homeless during the cold winter months will gather for a service of celebration on Saturday 18 April at 3pm.
Worshippers from around 16 different churches in Gloucester have been invited to this special service at Gloucester Community Church (meeting at the former St Luke’s Church, Stroud Road).
They will give thanks for the work of the soup run over the winter and pray for homeless people in the city. At the last count, there were between ten and 15 people sleeping rough on the streets of Gloucester.
Volunteers will be given information about opportunities to donate their time and energy to helping the homeless during the summer months.
Cate Williams, Mission and Evangelism Officer said: “Thank you to all who have played a part in making the soup run happen. It has been a really important thing to do for the sake of the homeless in our city and has been fabulous to see all the churches coming together to enable it to happen.”
