Diocesan Finance Officer – Payroll & Accounts Payable – full time


Band 5: £24,670-£26,838


The Diocese of Gloucester is seeking to recruit a full time Finance Officer to join a busy Finance Department. This team has the responsibility for the finances of the Gloucester Diocesan Board of Finance and its related entities, together with providing support to the many parishes within our Diocese.


The Board of Finance is a limited company responsible for employing staff at Church House; for managing the finances of the Diocese; and for providing administration and holding property on behalf of Diocesan Synod (as the Diocesan Synod is legally unable to do so). It acts in accordance with the policy and directives of the Diocesan Synod.


The Board of Finance provides information and advice on financial matters to clergy, PCCs and Parish Treasurers; and is responsible for keeping the accounts of various diocesan bodies.


To be appointed you will have several years’ experience of working within a finance team and have had recent experience of managing a payroll system. In addition to financial skills, the role requires the post holder to be able to engage and respond helpfully and knowledgably to many individuals who are unfamiliar with financial reporting, systems and processes.


You will be in sympathy with the values and ethos of the Church of England.
