RE Hub Leaders
Lynda Britton Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, Cheltenham
I have been an RE and Collective Worship lead for over twenty years, mainly teaching KS2. I enjoy trying to make RE creative and engaging. I am willing to meet with colleagues to offer support and encouragement with teaching RE.
Caryn Smith St James’ C of E Primary, Cheltenham
I am Deputy Head Teacher, Worship and RE lead in our school. St James’ C of E Primary is a 2 form entry school off The Park. I currently don’t have classroom responsibility but teach reception to year 6 for PPA and SLT cover, so have an understanding of both Key Stages. Over the last three years I have focused on developing Christian values in our school and as a result of SIAMS I am now focusing on spirituality.
Sue Hudson Powell’s C of E Primary, Cirencester
I have been a Primary teacher for over 20 years, mostly within KS2. I have led RE at Kempsford and Ashton Keynes before moving to Powell’s in Cirencester to lead RE/ Worship in 2009. I currently teach in Year Three and Year Six. I undertook a Farmington Fellowship in 2012/2013 to study and develop the RE unit entitled “In a community with many differences, how should we live?” I have attended annual conferences since then and find both the results of the current year’s research and the contact with Primary and Secondary RE teachers to be invaluable.
Lucie Mitchell Bisley Bluecoat C of E Primary, near Stroud
I am based at Bisley Blue Coat Primary School where I teach a mixed age and ability class of years 4, 5 & 6. I am experienced KS2 teacher who understands teaching the wholeofKS2. I am an RE and Collective Worship co-ordinator for two schools. I am happy to support colleagues teaching RE, particularly those who are teaching in small schools with mixed age groups.
Karen Harding St David’s C of E Primary School, North Cotswolds
I am the RE and Collective Worship lead at St David’s and am currently teaching a straight Year 2 class, but have taught across the entire primary age range. I am happy to support teachers with the planning, teaching and comprehension of the Understanding Christianity materials and subsequently the new syllabus for RE.
Forest of Dean:
Robyn Howells Tutshill Primary, Forest of Dean
I am a teacher at Tutshill Primary School. We’re a single form entry school very near the welsh border and the market town of Chepstow. I have worked at Tutshill for thirteen years and am the year 6 teacher, KS2 phase leader and responsible for RE, History, Geography and Collective Worship. I feel very strongly that Christian values underpin everything we do and am always keen to raise the profile of RE.
Bernadette Kilty St Briavel’s C of E Primary, Forest of Dean
I am senior teacher at St Briavel’s Primary and have taught RE to most age groups across the primary stage. I have previously worked across the county as an AST teacher for RE. I have taught at my current school for 20 years and have a lot of experience of planning for mixed age and mixed key stage classes. At the moment I am delivering RE to a year 4/5 class and a year 5/6 class each week.
Julia Matson Barnwood C of E Primary, Gloucester
I have over 13 years experience of working in a Church of England School as an RE lead. I have led governor, head teacher and RE lead training on outstanding RE and Christian Values and can advise on planning, assessment and the organisation of RE with particular focus on one form settings.
Rachel Millard Upton St Leonards C of E Primary School, nr Gloucester
We are a large primary school on the outskirts of Gloucester. I am currently the RE Subject Leader. We teach RE in our school during PPA time through a small team of teachers whom I support. I currently teach RE in YR, Y1, Y2, Y4 and Y5. In the recent past I also taught RE to Y3. I am happy to talk with colleagues about Y1 up to Y5.
Graham Pike St Mary’s C of E Primary, Thornbury
I am currently Assistant Head and have been in senior leadership roles in three outstanding Church of England schools. I teach year 6 and am willing to support teachers with planning, assessment, tracking and learning.
Tewkesbury / North Gloucester:
Rosie Marks Hartpury C of E Primary, north of Gloucester
I am a deputy head teacher and RE co-ordinator in a small village primary school with mixed age classes. I specialise in KS2 although I am happy to advise on both key stages. I have been involved in RE in Gloucestershire for many years, beingpart of the team that wrote the Agreed Syllabus (2006-2017). I have a BA in Music and Religious Studies and a wealth of experience of different religions, as well as a wide range of knowledge of different Christian denominations and practises.
David Scorer Tewkesbury C of E Primary
I am currently a Deputy Headteacher and SIAMS Inspector. I have worked in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire for over 16 years, with over half this time as a senior leader and RE/Worship coordinator in C of E schools. I currently work in a large 2 form entry school and have significant experience in single and half form entry schools. Having helped to set up and manage the Cheltenham Church School Partnership over the last 4 years, I have been fortunate to forge positive collaboration between schools to provide guidance and support each other in an ever developing educational landscape.
