Giving
|
When we give… we give life. Regular committed giving by church members enables the church to carry out God’s mission in the world. Church and charitable giving gives new life, new vision, new hope. In this diocese we strive to be a resilient, dynamic and transforming gospel presence in and around Gloucestershire, empowering people and communities to lead authentic and faithful lives in a rapidly changing world. The Church of England in and around Gloucestershire breathes new hope and life into its communities realized through the generosity of all who donate. The impact of peoples generosity is most visible through the 325 parishes who serve a population of over 600,000 people. Transforming lives both in big and small ways, but always meaningful. Our Churches today have the broadest possible mission. They seek to journey with their community together facing the new demands of our rapidly changing world, whilst holding firm to the traditions and rootedness which our communities so value. Often being the last or only public building in the community, bringing people together in times of joy and sorrow, to celebrate and remember. This is the Churches way of expressing Gods love for the entire community which it serves. In addition we are blessed by being guardians to part of our country's heritage, of which some Churches are internationally renowned and loved. It is the generous giving of those who value and support the Churches work which underpins all its work. Today the Church of England in this diocese and beyond relies enormously on individual giving. Over 60% of the Church of England’s total income comes from individual regular giving, at parish level this can account for up to 85% of their income. In this diocese we take the subject of Giving seriously and have lots of advice and guidance for those who wish to donate to support their Church and for those who lead parishes and wish to create a culture of generosity and giving within their community.
