Ministry among Deaf & Hard of Hearing People
Ministry among deaf people has a long established history.I became Chaplain in 1994, seventy five years to the day after this ministry was established in Gloucester diocese. Like the missioners before me, my role is chiefly to provide worship
in Sign Language for people who are culturally Deaf, also to provide pastoral care to Deaf and hard of hearing people.
I conduct the occasional offices (baptisms, weddings, funerals) for Deaf people, or work alongside the local minister providing communication support. I can advise parishes on the basics of sound systems and induction loop systems for hard of hearing people.
Dates & Venues of Worship in British Sign Language (BSL):
3rd Sunday of Each Month, 3.15pm (except August)
St. Lawrence's Church, Church Lane, Barnwood.
(Venue in Cheltenham also being considered)
Home Communions also conducted.
