The oldest parish church in Gloucester, St Mary de Lode, is hosting a fundraising concert on Saturday 25 October at 7pm.
The concert will be given by the choir of Beverley Minster and will include Mozart’s ‘Spatzenmesse’ plus works by Haydn, Bruckner and Rutter.
The Revd Canon Nikki Arthy, Rector of St Mary de Lode, said: “We are enormously grateful to the Director of Music, Robert Poyser, for bringing the choir to Gloucester.
“Robert has a long association with Gloucester. He was a chorister at the Cathedral and organ scholar too. As organ scholar, Robert played the organ at St Mary de Lode for Evensong. When he heard that we needed to raise £60,000 for tower repairs, he offered to come and help.’”
St Mary de Lode Church stands at the heart of the community in St Mary’s Square. Tickets for the concert are £6 and are available from D Stephens on 01452 619962 or R Lane on 01452 521670. They will also be available on the night.
