A vicar is preparing himself for some difficult questions from his church.
Members of St Mary’s Church in Wotton-under-Edge have been invited to quiz the Canon Rob Axford on his thoughts about assorted topics – but it is all in the name of fun.
Church-goers in the town will have an hour to grill him on a variety of subjects during the “Ask The Vicar” event.
Rob has promised that no topic is off-limits as he prepares to answer questions on his role as well as his views on more controversial topics.
He said: “I am taking a bit of a risk in doing this, but I’m happy to field questions about anything from gay marriage to my favourite holiday haunts.
“There will be two 30 minute sessions when I answer the questions, with a time for refreshments in-between.”
The question and answer session is part of St Mary’s Together, an initiative that aims to bring the church’s different congregations together to share in a time of fellowship and learning. Cheese and wine will be served during the evening.
Rob said: “People go to different services and don’t know those going along at other times. This is part of a process we have been running since last summer to bring the different congregations together.”
The event is taking place St Mary’s Church on Wednesday 22 April at 7.30pm.
Questions can be posted in a box at the back of St Mary’s Church before the event or can be submitted on the night.
