Closure of RE Resource Centre

Published: December 11, 2017

The Diocese of Gloucester regrets to announce that the Resource Centre will close down in April 2018.

Following a review of provision, the Diocesan Board of Education has taken the decision to close the Resource Centre.  The Centre will close in April 2018, but will continue to run as normal until then.

The reasons for this are many and complex: one of the main considerations being the effectiveness of running from a central location, which many find inaccessible due to time and cost involved in travelling to the Centre.

We are currently exploring the options for dispersal of the resources after the Centre has closed.  More information about this will be available next year.

Rachel Howie, Diocesan Director of Education, said. “This is not a decision that we have taken lightly and it has involved much discussion, prayer and reflection and I know that this announcement will be disappointing and saddening to many.  My sincere thanks and appreciation goes to staff, particularly Hannah Hauxwell the Centre Manager, and to users who have supported the Resource Centre.”

For the time being, please be assured that the Resource Centre is still open and resources will be available to you under the usual arrangements until the closure date.  If you have any comments, queries or concerns, please contact: Hannah Hauxwell, Resource Centre Manager: hhauxwell@glosdioc.org.uk.
