A family in Shurdington have chosen to have their baby baptised in their local school.
Baby Evie has a big sister at Shurdington Church of England Primary School and the family decided that they would like her baptism to take place in the school.
The family found a big, stone sink in their cottage which was used as a font and the Revd Susan Cooke led the service.
Headteacher Jon Millin also took part in the service of celebration as Evie began her Christian journey.
The church and school links are very strong in this area and services take place in the school hall several times a year.
Susan said, “It was a really enjoyable service. We learned about baptism being the start of our Christian journey; in this picture we are thinking about the candle and how we need the light of Jesus on our journey.
“We encourage you to try this. It is a great way of engaging with the community and showing that church isn’t boring.”
