The Archdeacons of Cheltenham and Gloucester invite all Churchwardens to join us at one of the annual Churchwardens’ Workshops.
The Workshops are taking place on Wednesday 6 November 2019 at 7:30pm at St George’s Church Centre, Brockworth GL3 4ET and Saturday 16 November 2019 at 10:00am at the Parkinson Lecture Theatre, Royal Agricultural University Cirencester GL7 6JS.
As usual these gatherings give us an opportunity to reflect together on some of the practical and spiritual aspects of the churchwardens’ role and we hope you will be able to join us and that you will find them stimulating and helpful as you serve your communities. They also provide an opportunity to share experiences and ask questions with others in the same role, albeit in different contexts.
This year we will include a focus on safeguarding in our parishes, as well as on the care and upkeep of our church buildings. For these subjects we will be joined by Judith Knight, our Director of Safeguarding and HR, and by Natalie Fenner and / or Adam Klups from our Church Buildings Team. We will also be reflecting on your experience of completing the annual ‘Archdeacon’s’ Articles of Enquiry’ online for the first time this year, as well as taking time to reflect more broadly on leadership in collaboration and the Churchwarden’s role within this.
If you cannot attend, (or in the absence of a churchwarden in the parish) other officers of the PCC are welcome to attend on your behalf.
We look forward to seeing you all.
