Trustees – Friends of Gloucester Cathedral

Published: September 16, 2019

Come and help us make history…

Gloucester Cathedral is one of the most significant heritage destinations in the South West. A historic place of worship which dates back over 1,300 years, it remains open for everyone, 365 days a year and continues to hold services every day. It is a sacred and holy place, a source of local pride and a site of rich history and world class music.

The Friends of Gloucester Cathedral is a separate membership charity which aims to be the Cathedral’s principal partner and friend. Supported by over 1,000 individual members, we provide significant financial aid to a range of projects on an annual basis. Through belonging and participation, we help the Cathedral to flourish, now and in the future.

The Roles

We are looking to add three new members to our Board, including a Secretary and are seeking motivated and imaginative trustees with a passion for heritage and the ability to think strategically, assess opportunities and manage risk. Candidates should have business management experience in either the public, private or voluntary sectors.  We are particularly interested in finding people with marketing (including social media), fundraising and governance experience.

This is a great opportunity to join a thriving organisation during an exciting period of development as we have plans in place to grow membership and increase income, and the Cathedral has just launched its new five-year vision, In tune with Heaven and in touch with daily life.

If you are enthused by the prospect of being part of a driven team and making a real difference to the Cathedral, this could be the role for you.

Time Commitment

Up to four meetings per year, plus involvement in committee work. Trustees are also expected to attend and represent the Friends at partnership events, meetings and receptions.
