Anna Coordinator (10 hours per week)

We are currently looking to appoint an Anna Coordinator who will be the promoter and central pivot of CaBiC Anna Chaplaincy in Cheltenham and Bishops Cleeve.

Anna Chaplaincy aims to support and restore purpose, dignity and often a sense of identity to those who may be experiencing loss through bereavement, infirmity and sometimes through various forms of dementia.

The Anna Coordinator will be an advocate and champion for the contribution that older people make to society, drawing alongside people of strong, little or no faith, and encouraging the wider church to celebrate and cherish older members of their congregations.


What is CaBiC Anna Chaplaincy?

CaBiC Anna Chaplaincy is a Christian Charitable Incorporated Organisation seeking to promote and coordinate Ministry to Older People in the towns of Cheltenham and Bishop’s Cleeve.

Anna Chaplaincy is about nurturing spirituality in its broadest sense, offering non-judgmental spiritual and pastoral support to older people of any faith or none, especially to those living in residential and nursing homes, and to their relatives and the people who care for them.  For further details see:


Key Responsibilities of the Anna Coordinator

Ø  Building a picture of what provision already exists in the area and identifying gaps.

Ø  Safely recruiting high calibre Anna Chaplains to work with local churches.

Ø  Provide training and resources for the Chaplains and Anna Friends.

Ø  Being an advocate for older people and their spirituality.

Ø  Central contact for other bodies working in the field such as care homes, charities and local authorities.

Ø  Act as the line manager for individual chaplains and be responsible for safeguarding issues.

Ø  Network with existing secular agencies and national churches.

Ø  Promote pastoral and spiritual care of older people in the area.

Ø  Ensure appropriate safeguarding training, procedures and practices are in place.

Essential attributes required

Experience of pastoral work and working/volunteering within a Church setting, presentation and administration skills, IT and social media savvy, and good communication skills.  You need to work well individually and as part of a team, be self-motivated, energetic, innovative and able to engage with people from various faiths and traditions.

Role requirements

This is a part-time role of 10 hours per week, for an initial one year fixed-term contract, with an option to look at up to a further two years.

The position will require the candidate to work from home, travel within the area, with flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.

It is an occupational requirement for the person appointed to be a professing and practicing Christian (Equality Act 2010). Enhanced DBS and references will be required.
