Organist & Choir Master

St Michael & All Angels is situated in the historic heart of Bishop’s Cleeve, a rapidly growing village in Gloucestershire. We are a warm and friendly church family with a vibrant range of worship styles.

We love the feel of our Sunday worship, which is just one aspect of a rich mix of activities and groups that meet throughout the week.  Our congregations span all age ranges and are a mix of regulars and those exploring faith.  Please see our website for more information: www.stmichaelsbishopscleeve.co.uk

Following retirement of our long-standing post-holder, we wish to appoint an Organist & Choir Master who, with our Rector and others, will play their part in enriching the worshipping life of our church.

You will play for the weekly 9.30am Sung Eucharist, monthly Evensong and other Christian festival dates. This involves a mix of traditional and contemporary hymns, sung service settings, responsorial Psalms and choir pieces.   We have a small but dedicated choir with a range of abilities who practise one eve a week.  Working with the Choir Lead, you will develop and expand the Choir, and as the occasion dictates, provide opportunities to involve children and young people.

The 9.30am service is followed by coffee and refreshments before our 11.15am contemporary worship service which has its own group of musicians. This facilitates the opportunity for our congregations to mix and catch up with one another.

£5k pa, 6 weeks paid leave pa.  Extra income optional via approx 18 weddings and 40 funerals pa.
