Social Enterprise Development Manager
Stroud Parish Churches

This is a brand new role, an exciting opportunity to develop Church-based social enterprise(s), located in our town centre venue…with a view to it becoming a focal point for the community, focussing on social action.

As we look to revitalise and regenerate St Laurence Church and its adjacent Church Hall, we are now looking for an injection of energy into the Church Hall, through new ideas and delivering projects/events, in parallel with developments already under way focused on the Church building.   You will develop a realistic medium-term business plan and budget covering activities at the two buildings, with input from enthusiastic and knowledgeable team members, volunteers and other stakeholders, and you will have the support of a newly appointed Caretaker (also covering both buildings).

With users such as: support groups, the Street Pastors, Tiddlywinks, Helping Hands, the Ukraine Welcome cafe, GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) already using our facilities, we want to build on this to become a local hub for these and more community groups – enabling these groups to hold events in our venue to generate much-needed revenue, and to build community. You will also feed in ideas of what we could do to update our facilities and make ourselves a more attractive venue, working closely with our Caretaker on this.

You will be experienced in creating business plans, and ideally have worked in project management in a community setting. Applying for small grants will be an important part of the job, so experience in doing this would also be helpful. Promotion will be key…and you will be responsible for all of the advertising and marketing related to these activities.

We are also hiring a Caretaker to work with you on developing the facilities and community use of this venue. We would be happy to consider applicants who wish to apply for both roles, and / or job shares.

The successful candidate will be invested in through mentoring from the Grace Network (, and will receive an attractive benefits package: competitive salary; excellent pension scheme; 28 days holiday FTE (including bank holidays); mobile phone and laptop provided.
