Awnells Farm Open Day
March 17, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Spring 2019 – throw off the BREXIT BLUES and tour the GOLDEN TRIANGLE. Find a magical area of woodlands, orchards and pastures ablaze with wild daffodils straddling the County boundary of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. Throughout March events will be taking place spread across the villages of Oxenhall, Much Marcle, Kempley and Dymock.
Celebrate the birth of spring when carpets of wild daffodils burst forth for visitors to see. Join in a wide range of activities across the three villages. The programme includes weekend events at each village with organised walks, luscious Daffodil lunches, teas, and exhibitions in the local churches and at Kempley trips on the Daff & ride bus. Visit the Countryside Restoration Trust Awnells Farm and walk in ancient orchard and meet Jock, a prize winning Hereford Steer or discover the Victorian industrial archaeology at Oxenhall, lost now in the gorgeous local countryside.
This year listen to local musicians in St Mary’s Church Dymock, or travel to the 11th C St Mary’s Church in Kempley to marvel at the 12th C frescoes in the vaulted Chancel together with 14th C tempera wall paintings. See how isolated villages are fighting back against the loss of basic services and join the Kempley Pop Up Pub after a day walking the Daffodil Way. Come and enjoy the Kempley Produce Market and later on enjoy an evening meal in a local pub before finding a bed to sleep in the quiet English countryside.
