Breathe: a day of reflection for young people
March 28, 10:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
A day of reflection for young people in Year 6 – Year 13
Set in the beautiful Forest of Dean at the Viney Hill Adventure Centre, this day of low-octane experiences will help young people of all backgrounds engage with God in a new and refreshing way.
21st Century adolescent life can be fast and furious – filled with social media, school work and the pressure to have and be everything. Breathe will give young people a few hours to stop, unwind and connect with God.
Outline of the day
|10.00am||Arrival / Refreshments|
|10.30am||Opening Activity / Meeting|
|12.15pm||Lunch (please bring a packed lunch)|
|3.30pm||Final Activity / Meeting|
Refreshments are provided on arrival and during the break, but all participants will need to bring a packed lunch.
The Diocesan Youth Priority Group has some funding to support groups with transport costs to Breathe – we suggest you join up with other groups in your area and come in a mini-bus (we can help with booking and cost of this).
The ethos behind Breathe is to engage both body and soul. We provide young people with space to rediscover some of the ancient Christian traditions of prayer and meditation, in relevant and contemporary ways. There is time set aside for prayer and reflection with enough time in-between to allow for building lasting friendships. We seek to really provide the young people with the tools of quietude and contemplation, so they can take them home and practice them in their daily lives.
Breathe has been running since 2006, set up by Martin and Melanie Stand and Paul Northam. Martin and Melanie are youth workers for Darlington Area Churches Youth Ministry and have over 40 years of youth work experience between them.
