Forest Church and Forest School – developing spirituality further in your school
Forest Church is a Christian framework to explore outdoor spirituality. It is flexible and can be adapted to suit different school contexts. At its heart is engagement with nature and outdoor learning, with the focus on the spirituality and wellbeing aspects of spending time outdoors. This training event will begin with a practical outdoors session and then explore Forest Church under the headings of the three questions: what is Forest Church; why Forest Church; and how do we get started?
- To introduce participants to Forest Church and to link to Forest Schools/outdoor learning opportunities.
- To explore how this intersects with the core questions in the SIAMS schedule: Who are we? Why are we here? How then do we live?
- To introduce ideas, planning and suggested resources to be used in schools by teachers, clergy and volunteers.
- To develop an annual cycle of resources to support the establishment of Forest Church as part of Collective Worship.
