Ordained Self Supporting Ministry
October 11, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Bishop Robert is hosting an online event for anyone interested in exploring the opportunities of Ordained Self-Supporting Ministry.
In preparing for this event, we have been listening to the experience of serving SSM’s who have reflected on how it was meeting and hearing the stories of those already engaged in this ministry that first allowed them to see that this could also be for them. With that in mind the evening will offer the opportunity to hear directly from those currently serving in this ministry and engage in conversation together.
SSM ministry is vital to the health of the church, emphatically not in a sense of ‘filling the gaps’ when there are fewer stipendiary clergy but as part of encouraging a diversity of ministry. SSM clergy bring to the church and to their ministry the experience of the whole of their lives, work, family, community links, they are of all backgrounds some younger and some older.
In terms of age it will help you to know that the process from beginning discernment to ordination takes usually at least 5 years.
