The Language of Tears
March 16, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm£40
Reverend David Runcorn
The Harnhill Centre
Human beings are thought to be the only creatures to shed tears of emotion. They go with being creatures who wonder, who long and who feel things deeply. In joy and pain they flow through and shape the personal landscape of our lives—like rivers, springs and streams in the natural world.
At times in Christian history, careful attention has been paid to tears as a way of listening and discerning God’s purpose in someone’s life. But this insight has been largely lost in our times. We are more often embarrassed by tears, apologising when they surface, assuming they are a weakness, and trying hard to keep them out of sight.
Based on material in his latest book, The Language of Tears, David will explore the gift and meaning of tears. The day will include time for personal and group reflection.
