The earthquake has left hundreds of people dead and thousands buried alive

Christian Aid's partners in Indonesia are already responding to the aftermath of the powerful earthquake that has left hundreds dead and thousands buried alive.

The earthquake brought down hundreds of buildings, including hospitals. The death toll is expected to rise over the coming hours and days. Christian Aid's partners are working to help as many people as possible and reach those most in need. Men, women and children are in urgent need of assistance. Basic needs include clean water, food and shelter.

Christian Aid urgently needs your support to help the people of Indonesia as well as those affected by disasters across Asia Pacific, including in the Philippines. Please give what you can to help survivors of the earthquakes, tsunamis and floods that have ravaged Asia Pacific region in the last few days.

Your donation will be used immediately to meet the most urgent needs and will help rebuild lives. Please give generously using this link http://www.christianaid.org.uk/emergencies/current/indonesia-earthquake/index.aspx

A prayer for Indonesia to be used in church services or individually can be found here http://www.christianaid.org.uk/emergencies/current/indonesia-earthquake/prayer.aspx
